Interurban Shelter Project

Help us build a shelter along the Interurban Trail!

The Springfield Park District and the Springfield Parks Foundation are teaming up to build a shelter along a section of the Interurban Trail.  The shelter will be located about halfway between the Hazel Dell parking lot and Woodside Road.

The shelter will offer both a refuge from inclement weather with a roof covering and a place to rest or relax while working out.

The location offers a serene woodland setting overlooking a perennial stream, rare in Springfield.  Recently planted native woodland flora are being introduced to enhance an already appealing view.  An active rail line is adjacent to the trail and shelter for the train enthusiasts.

We need your help to make this shelter a reality! Donate today to help us build a shelter along the Interurban Trail.
