Lincoln Park Lagoon Restoration

Springfield celebrated the centennial anniversary of Lincoln Park in 2006 with memorable events that attracted hundreds of visitors.

The Springfield Park District has finished Construction of the Lincoln Park Lagoon area. Please come and Celebrate The Lincoln Park Lagoon Restoration scheduled for Tuesday, August 3rd 2010 at 6:30p.m. Music from the Fake McCoys will begin at 6:45 and the speakers will begin at 7:00pm.

The Construction will included: dredging and removal of silt giving the entire upper and lower lagoon areas approximately 4-5 feet of depth, shoreline restoration, erosion control plantings and cap stones for beautification re-circulation from lower to upper lagoon through a pump system that included reactivating the old "trickle down waterfall" located east and south of the upper lagoon area.

The Springfield Parks Foundation has generously provided funding toward a new trail/path system around the lagoon which is to be made up of crushed limestone providing natural beauty to the walking surface. Memorial opportunities exist through the purchase of or sponsoring bricks, light posts and park benches in and around the area. The Springfield Park District appreciates the assistance and patience of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association.
